A Restaurant and So Much More…

Welcome to The Tavern On The Square

With five uniquely themed dining rooms, a bakery, gift shoppe, and Victorian Tea Room, The Tavern is a destination in the heart of Amish Country

Located in beautiful New Wilmington, The Tavern is one of Pennsylvania’s finest and oldest dining establishments. Built in 1849, the Tavern on the Square is rich in history and was once part of the Underground Railroad.

Throughout the restaurant you will see hand painted murals that represent simple ways of life found in Western Pennsylvania for nearly 200 years. Look carefully and you may also discover hidden images among the intricate artwork that adorns the walls.

Open 7 Days a Week, Lunch & Dinner

Enjoy homemade Chicken and Biscuits, Hamloaf, Roast Beef with real mashed potatoes, Roasted Turkey with all the fixin’s, 28 day aged Steaks, homemade soups, specialty salads, sandwiches, and more. With our country style portions, you’ll never leave hungry.

All of our desserts are fresh baked and homemade. Choose from Blackberry Cobbler, Coconut Cream pie, Pecan Balls, Apple Dumplings, Bread Pudding, Molten Lava Chocolate Cake, and of course our famous Sticky Buns – freshly baked, twice daily!
