When Alma and Todd re-opened the doors to The Tavern on the Square on April 2nd, 2018 it became immediately apparent that the Tavern has played an integral role in the community of New Wilmington for many generations. Most notably was the role that the Tavern has played in hosting the many memorable moments in the lives of her guests.
Each day we are treated to delightful stories told directly by our guests who have celebrated Bridal Showers, Baby Showers, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Graduations and even Weddings right here at the Tavern. At every table on the first floor we provide journals in which our guests record their thoughts about the delicious food, the people they have met and the memorable moments they have brought into our restaurant.
These are just some of the amazing things Todd and Alma have discovered as new owners of this important piece of New Wilmington history, a building which they consider themselves to be simply the caretakers of this landmark, until the time comes when they pass this role over to the next generation of caretakers to carry her forward.
If you have not visited this special place in New Wilmington, with it’s prime window view of Amish buggies and quaint small town life, we highly recommend that you come by and treat yourself to this unique destination restaurant, and perhaps you too will find yourself experiencing a memorable moment of your own!
